NEOM will be a model for modern projects and cities that represent the focus of the new economy, said CEO Nadhmi Al-Nasr. It will do so by embracing many different companies and industries while attracting qualitative foreign investments.  Al-Nasr pointed to NEOM’s efforts in implementing a circular economy based on model future thinking that enacts change at the level of production sectors and the standard of living. This enhances the contribution to the GDP.

Al-Nasr made the remarks in 2nd Municipal Investment Forum “FURAS”. He added NEOM will be producing clean energy by 100% on a large scale sufficient to supply NEOM with all its needs, to reach net-zero carbon emissions.  The NEOM project will redefine the concept of the city by embracing a 9 million population, and employing the city's resources, in addition to creating a new concept of environmentally friendly tourism.

NEOM has unveiled The Vault, a hyper-modern village built vertically (as opposed to THE LINE – the project’s world-changing linear city). To save space, The Village folds in on itself, tucked inside a hollowed mountain in the TROJENA area. The revolutionary project will be 198 metres high, 253 metres wide and 864 metres long (which is slightly longer than the Burj Khalifa is high). It will have a total area of 200,000 sq m.

East Pipes Integrated Co announced in a statement that it has signed multiple contracts with NEOM with total value of the contracts worth about $99.3 million.  The scope of works includes supplying of steel pipes for water transmission lines, and the duration of the contract is 12 months.

Nadhmi Al-Nasr, NEOM’s CEO, said that works are progressing in the futuristic city as per schedule in an interview with Al Arabiya TV.  The project is set to run on 100 percent renewable energy when completed, and will encompass several megaprojects.

 Saudi Arabia’s NEOM has unveiled a new video showing rapid progress being made on the futuristic $500 billion mega business and tourism project and a key part of the Kingdom’s 2030 diversification plans.

With NEOM having moved to the building phase of the project and the first destination – Sindalah – due to open its doors in 2024, the progress film shows real-world footage of the large-scale construction across NEOM regions including THE LINE, TROJENA, OXAGON and Sindalah Island.

One of the world's largest construction projects has started in Saudi Arabia near the northern end of the Red Sea. An exhibition showcasing a smart city being built as part of the NEOM project in northwestern Saudi Arabia has gone on display in Riyadh.  THE LINE development will be constructed using revolutionary architectural designs and urban planning concepts and the exhibition will run until April 29 at the Diriyah Biennale Foundation for Contemporary Art in Riyadh’s Jax district.

Saudi Arabia has announced some companies will be able to operate in the kingdom without having a headquarters in the country. Companies with foreign operations not exceeding 1 million Saudi riyals ($266,000) can operate in the kingdom without local headquarters, it was reported on Sunday. Firms competing for government contracts without any other bidders are also exempt from the rules. The decision follows rules introduced in 2021 which require foreign firms to set up regional headquarters in the country by the end of this year or risk losing out on government contracts.
