NEOM, a planned futuristic city in the Tabuk Province, is all set for issuing its very first tenders for building a renewable power grid this year, as per Jens Madrian, the executive director of NEOM Energy. Stating on the technical design of their high voltage power grid, Mr. Madrian said that they are expected to reach out to the market later this year.
As part of its mandate to create the most sustainable and environmentally friendly food ecosystems, NEOM targets producing an innovative food sector with a total output of over 600,000 tons by 2030, it has announced. This should lead to mass self-efficiency and a stronger local economy, the company said in a presentation broadcast during the Saudi International Marine Exhibition and Conference in Riyadh on Sunday.
Cloud computing is proliferating in the Middle East as many organisations are moving their processes and data to the cloud. The region is undergoing economic transformations; more countries are implementing smart city initiatives and updating their national visions while improving their digital economies. Gartner estimates that end-user expenditure on public cloud services in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region will reach $5.7bn in 2022.
'Dune,' a science-fiction epic filmed in Abu Dhabi, is also nominated in the fantasy feature film category. The 26th Art Directors Guild Awards has nominated an advertisement for Saudi Arabia’s megacity NEOM entitled Made to Change.
The Saudi Arabian planned city NEOM is seeking cooperation with Jordan to propel the advancement of economically feasible projects across vital sectors, the Jordanian agency Petra reported. The news comes following a visit by NEOM Co.'s CEO Nahdmi Al-Nasr to Jordan's Prime Minister. The meeting was attended by officials from Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia and NEOM's executives.
Extreme E Season 1 runners-up X44 have retained their driver line-up for the forthcoming campaign, with Sébastien Loeb and Cristina Gutiérrez back behind the wheel for the team founded by Seven-Time Formula 1™ World Champion Sir Lewis Hamilton. Private sector firms in Saudi Arabia will be encouraged to import hydrogen-powered vehicles as part of the Kingdom's green iniative, according to the minister of energy. Stakeholders who attended the signing ceremony included the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu, NEOM, Saudi Green Initiative, Saudi Railway Company, Princess Norah Mint Abdul Rahman University, the Royal Commission for Makkah City and Holy Sites, The Red Sea Development Company, Saudi Ground Services, and the Saudi Technology Development and Investment Company.
Nadhmi Al-Nasr, CEO of NEOM, said the city is leading the transformation in the field of clean energy in Saudi Arabia, starting from zero, emphasizing that questyear is the year of the transformation of strategies in reality. Speaking with Al Arabiya, he added that NEOM is striving to be a leader in the field of clean and renewable energy and that green hydrogen will be led by NEOM in the United in collaboration with the Ministry of Energy and the energy system.
Cruise Saudi was launched only last year at the end of January by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund to develop the country’s cruise industry in line with Saudi Vision 2030. Within less than a year of its operations, cruise traffic in Saudi Arabia has grown five times from roughly 4,000 cruise passengers in 2020 to more than 20,000 (according to November statistics) in 2021. Cruise Saudi operates cruise ports in Jeddah, Yanbu and Dammam (ready as of last year); and by 2025 aims to add a cruise port in Duba in NEOM and Jizan in the south – although the readiness of the destination will also be taken into account, while opening these ports, Farooqui tells TTN.
The prestigious, energy and sustainability-focused global platform, World Future Energy Summit, hosted by Masdar as part of Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, began Monday with five simultaneous thought leadership forums. The Solar & Clean Energy, EcoWASTE, Climate & Environment, Smart Cities, and Water forums will run until Jan. 19, 2022 at ADNEC Abu Dhabi. Organized in partnership with the Abu Dhabi Department of Energy and NEOM Electricity & Water, the World Future Energy Summit 2022 featured case studies and presentations by leading regional government entities including Abu Dhabi Department of Energy, NEOM, TAQA, Tadweer, ENEC and EWEC. Future energy and sustainability leaders presenting new technologies and participating in panel discussions included Total, BP, NEXTracker, Sungrow, GHD, Ecoppia and Rolls Royce.
